Emmé grew up in South Africa, adventuring with her travel-bug-bitten camping family. She mostly blames her meandering parents for her wanderlust, and set out travelling through Africa after high school, trusty travel journal in hand.

After returning to Stellenbosch and completing a bachelor’s degree in Visual Art, she moved to Vietnam for a year, travelled South-East Asia, worked as a florist, and currently finds herself calling California home.

Her work is inspired by a fascination and delight in nature, textures, colours and especially light. Capturing moments of reflection and pausing amongst the everyday hubbub of life have become the theme of her work the past few years. Being fully convinced that ordinary moments are full of mystery and majesty, she aims to draw her audience to a pause, a moment of rest and deep contentedness.
